After 4 months 'Off the Road' during it's refit & rebuild, this bike tells the old story of Rags to Riches
Or maybe that should read the other way round?

Rags, the owner of this Cool Fire Sporty wanted something unique to come from all those hours of painstaking labour...
I'd say he got it wouldn't you!

The first stop as always, for us, is talking with the owners & finding out what they have in mind for a base colour scheme. That turned out to be the easiest part of this project. Rags & Angie had almost driven themselves crazy looking at colours before coming to see us.

Wondering what their pride and joy would look like, in just about every shade of blue know to man had in Angie's own words 'been the most confusing part'. In the end they had found just the right paint to carry off their view of what they wanted their  sporty to look like.

After settling on the trick pearl/candy base, the next step was to work out what would look good airbrushed over it. Rags wanted a tradition flame shape, with a non-traditional flame colour scheme. His idea was to keep the flames simple... just a few licks, then have a subtle change of colour as the light hits them.

There are a number of ways to achieve this effect but ultimately we all decided on a blend of Pearls to highlight the standard flame shape. While you can only see them in real life, these flames have a blend of Gold, Green, Blue & Purple shot over their black base.

Rag's and Angie's have 3 kids & wanted their names incorporated into the flames somewhere. A V-Twin motor and Harley Davidson wording was also part of their vision. We added some tiny real colour flames to the mix in keeping with the feel of the design.

Both sides of the new split tanks & the front guard were painted using the same concept. The round emblem was created using metallic gold with gold pearl over giving a zing in full sun that hurts your eyes. The unique tanks strip was fashioned by Angie out of an old leather jacket, giving a secure place for Rag's to store his phone. The only problem is, that he keeps forgetting to take his mobile out when he gets off the bike.

The rear guard was a bit harder to carry the design elements through to, because you don't see a whole lot of it.  We decided to drag the licks out and arc them to follow the shape of the side of the guard Bringing the ends of these flame shapes around to almost touch at the back gave a nice finished look. The bonus was the in & out curves this guard has gives a trick look to the pearl paint.

The oil tank, battery & side cover were treated to a lick of flame or two... just cause we could!

In full light this paint work goes through all shades of blue and then some.

The ol'style flames in new look paint adds a touch of unique styling to this Cool Fire Sporty
