Jester by name... and Jester by nature |
The
owner of this 88 big twin has a passion for being different |
His
idea was simple... 'I want Gunmetal Grey paintwork and |
'While your at it
you can Tattoo one side of the bike to match my body' |
Jester's latest tatt goes from his wrist right up his neck, but only on his
left side |
| |
Being like a lot of folk... easily bored |
I
loved the idea of totally different looks down each side |
of
this pretty impressive 88 inch twin cam |
The
gunmetal grey metallic base |
was
achieved by adding a little of this, |
and a little of that, until it was just right |
Like so many custom projects |
this paint is a One-off with a thimble full |
left over for touch-ups if required |
Let's hope there is never a need! |
We
started with royal purple solid tribal all the way
down the left side of the bike |
This type of design allows for some |
interesting hidden features |
Like incorporating the owners name |
into the artwork on the front guard |
which only took him 5
hours to find (grin) |
Over the solid colour went the violet pearl |
then we added some highlights to give it zing |
A
really subtle dark grey-black shadow was added to
float the tribal off the base |
While we knew the tank strip would |
hide some of the detail |
Trailing a little of the tribal over the top |
of
the tank toward the right |
gave the look the owner wanted |
Likewise the front forks hide some more |
of the design but again the parts you can see |
indicate the continual style |
the image above
was shot before the clear so it looks a little flat & muddy |
The
rear guard is intended to play host to |
both a solo and 'sometimes' a twin seat, |
so
the artwork had to make sense |
with either of them in place |
We
added a small jester hat to the rear guard |
in
keeping with the main theme |
This Jester head has a lot of sentimental feeling attached and has been with
the owner for some time |
When I first saw the inspiration for this design ( a well worn and hole
ridden T-shirt ) |
I
wondered just how true to it, we would be able to stay. |
The
image was all-but faded away & what was there had large area's missing |
We
recreated the face to the customers liking and updated the jester's hat
With a beaten & bloody left side of the face and yet still grinning right
side, it makes me smile just looking at it |
The
jester on the right side of the bike has brown eyes, while the one on the
left is your typical green eyed monster |
I
mentioned when the bike was being put together that there wasn't any thing
on this machine that didn't like |
From the kickarse fork brace & impressive front wheel to the vision
Jester has of a new exhaust system, & custom wide sissy bar |
Jester's Wild-Glide is certainly something to be admired |
